North Nazimabad Karachi Guide: Blocks, Flats, Houses and Buying Checks
North Nazimabad explained for buyers: its history as KDA Scheme 2, blocks A to U, plot sizes from 120 to 3,000 sq yd, flats and houses on sale, and what to check before you buy.

North Nazimabad is one of Karachi's established middle-class neighbourhoods, close to the city centre and well connected, with a mix of older bungalows, houses split into portions and a growing number of apartment buildings. This guide covers its background, how the blocks work, what is on sale and what to check. It was written in October 2026 and avoids quoting prices; see current asking prices on our Karachi property prices page.
Background
North Nazimabad was developed from the late 1950s as KDA Scheme 2, on land bought by the government to resettle families and house federal government employees, and is named after Khawaja Nazimuddin, Pakistan's second Governor-General (background). Over the decades it has become densely built, with apartment buildings and condominiums replacing many original houses.
Blocks and plot sizes
The area is divided into blocks lettered A to U, with plot sizes from about 120 square yards up to 3,000 square yards. The block shapes the price as much as the plot: some blocks are known for large bungalows, others for apartments and commercial streets. On MedaGhar, listings in October 2026 were spread across Blocks D, F, G, H, I, J, L, M and N.
What is on sale
North Nazimabad has a real mix. On MedaGhar you will find flats for sale in North Nazimabad of roughly 80 to 170 square yards, houses on plots from about 200 to 600 square yards, and upper portions. To compare by size, use the area converter; flats are usually quoted in square feet and houses in square yards.
Checks before you buy in North Nazimabad
- For a flat, check the building's approvals. Ask for the SBCA-approved plan and completion plan; without the completion plan, a flat's sub-lease cannot be registered. See leased vs non-leased property in Karachi.
- For a portion, check how it was created. Houses split into portions should have approval for the split; ask how the portion's title and utilities are separated.
- Check the lease and dues. Ask for the registered lease or sub-lease deed and clear utility and maintenance bills.
- Look at the structure and parking in older buildings, and ask about water supply and backup power.
