Gulistan-e-Jauhar Karachi Guide: Blocks, Flats and Buying Checks
Gulistan-e-Jauhar explained for buyers: where it is, why it is mostly apartments, its blocks, the cantonment-administered parts, flats and houses on sale, and what to check before you buy.

Gulistan-e-Jauhar is one of Karachi's biggest apartment neighbourhoods: block after block of flats between University Road and Rashid Minhas Road, popular with families, students and people working near the airport. This guide covers where it is, how it is organised, what is on sale and what to check. It was written in October 2026 and avoids quoting prices; see current asking prices on our Karachi property prices page.
Where it is and who runs it
Gulistan-e-Jauhar is in Karachi's District East, between University Road and Rashid Minhas Road, bordered by Scheme 33, Safoora Goth and Malir Cantonment, and close to Jinnah International Airport (background). The University of Karachi and Habib University are nearby. Some of its blocks are administered by the Faisal Cantonment Board rather than the city, which changes whose approvals and transfer records you deal with.
Blocks and property types
The area is divided into numbered blocks, most of them made up of apartment complexes, with houses in some blocks. On MedaGhar in October 2026, listings were spread across Blocks 2, 3, 4, 7, 13, 15, 16, 18 and 19, and flats made up most of what was for sale.

Checks before you buy in Gulistan-e-Jauhar
- Check the building's approvals. Ask for the SBCA-approved plan and the completion plan; without the completion plan your flat's sub-lease cannot be registered. See leased vs non-leased property in Karachi.
- Find out who administers the block. In cantonment-administered blocks, check the Faisal Cantonment Board's records and charges as well as the builder's.
- Ask for the maintenance and dues statement, and how the building handles water, lifts and backup power.
- Visit in the monsoon or ask neighbours: low-lying streets can flood, so check the building's access and basement parking.
